Beginning letter sounds are the first step in teaching phonics to kids. And these simple games can make it easy and fun to learn and review those letter sounds. Some beginning sounds games can be found for free in our Print & Play series, but there are twice as many in this pack!

Included in this pack are 24 different game boards for these beginning consonant sounds: b, c (hard and soft), d, f, g (hard and soft), h, j, k, l, m, n, p, q(u), r, s, t, v, w, y, and z.

These games are easy to adapt for 1 player, 2 players, or even more! Play with a small group, use as a literacy center, or pull it out for some independent practice, such as morning work. And the best part is they’re LOW PREP. You only need to grab a bag of your favorite small manipulatives and a die to play.

Samples:

Kids are asked to listen for and identify two different beginning sounds at the same time. The sounds chosen are very different from one another. Two game boards are included for each of the beginning sound pairs.
